hoo-ah
"there is nothing like the sight of an amputated soul. there is no prosthetic for that." - frank slade, scent of a woman. what a great flick. lots of great movies on TV today - scarface, casino, godfather 3, scent of a woman, star trek: generations...
my early birthday was quality. got to hang out w/renee for three days. :) went to five iron's final show at the underground friday... great show, a little emotional... they played with real heart.
saturday i saw kill bill. ok, here's the deal. it's a very good kung fu movie - great fighting, somewhat innovative, good choreography. the excessive gore, i don't even see it when i watch it, i think i've been desensitized by mortal kombat and riki-oh. the dialogue was a little weak at points, the weirdness of tarantino's filmmaking style was in hyper mode (lots of random subtitles, non-standard credit sequence in the beginning, random anime insertion). but it all made for a very interesting, entertaining movie that i'd go see again in a second. can't wait for part 2.
the soundtrack is half annoying crap and half EXCELLENCE. check out the website above and hit the 'listen to the soundtrack' link, and you'll get access to four songs. the last song on the list, battle without honor or humanity by tomoyasu hotei (from when o-ren ishii comes in to the restaurant w/her peoples) - HIGHLY cool. wu-tang's The RZA did a bunch of music from it - good stuff too.
