heh. boingboing has a link to a great interview with news.com - apparently people that advocate free license for creative works is a communist according to bill gates.

xeni from boingboing created herself a nice little copyleft commie flag - which i will proudly fly here on the site. because i believe that the current copyright system is broken and stifles creativity and free expression so that large corporations can make more money and gain more control over content. there are better methods out there - such as the creative commons license - that end up benefitting both the artist and the audience instead of removing rights and choices from both - an idea that gates refers to as 'getting rid of incentives for musicians and moviemakers and software makers'. heh. incentives to what? impose useless limitations that harm your ability to distribute work to an audience, instead of promote it?

nice.
