drive and never ever slow down
great show tonight... four bands, mcallister and i skipped out on sugarcult. very worthwhile show. the acts:
the plain white t's: i'd never heard of these guys, but from the first song of their set (revenge) i was intrigued. their whole set was really good and i ended up grabbing a disc, which so far is just as quality as their live show. typical emo/punk/rock stuff (think story of the year) but with some clever, interesting songwriting. gotta recommend these guys.
hopesfall: screamo, long, drawn out songs. didn't do anything for me.
anberlin: i went for these guys. i wish they'd had a chance to play half an hour longer - the songs they played sounded really good (especially their closer readyfuels) in a live setting. there were a dozen songs they didn't play, cause they were on the bill with four other bands. they had lots of energy - however i didn't expect them to be one of those 'jump all over the stage, stand on the amps with your guitar straight up, swing the mic around, tight-shirt-with-a-mohawk' bands... stephen, the lead singer, couldn't manage to keep the mic in front of his mouth for the first three songs and as a result i heard maybe four words. that was dumb. beyond that - great set.
hawthorne heights: everyone at the show knew these guys, they were from daaaaaayton, and were going nuts when they took the stage. i'd never heard them before. they were kind of an afi-eats-letterkills sound. i don't see what all the fuss was about.
so now i'm home, watching mars attacks. CLASSIC. and to rip off brian and simon and ed, it's poll time.
Question: Do the Martians have two sexes.. LIKE WE DO?
