dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

she's a bombshell

austin has been great so far, we're getting spoiled by the weather, driving around in the mustang with our windows down. we're enjoying training and trying to find some good places to eat and hang out. we're 1 for 2 so far on restaurants. tonight we're going to a place called the alamo drafthouse to watch smokin' aces and eat some delicious bass.

knowing my affectation for centrist, progressive anti-politicians, renee picked me up barack obama's book for the trip, which i am devouring. hopefully he is not all smoke and mirrors and whatnot - and actually believes the stuff he's writing. it's interesting how he acknowledges that we've all become this cynical about those in public office and immediately assume that everything they say is marketing, and that none of it is true. campaigning in poetry and governing in prose has turned into campaining in bull@*#& and governing in whatever the lobbyists want... so if this guy is authentic and really means what he says about compromise and rising above partisan politics, he's going to make it far.

of course, it could all be an act, or a naive worldview that will shatter under the pressure of our enormous, divided country. i'm holding out some hope, though.

she also picked me up a few awesome movies and boston's greatest hits. she is indeed a miracle.

you're not missing anything here. ice, snow, wind, frigid air and your wife hasn't been to work since Martin Luther King Day.

Find a BBQ restaurant called Rudy's, I hear it's pretty good...

it is indeed - b and i went there yesterday. they give you meat and bread in a basket (along with your sides - great potato salad) and you make your own sandwiches. there's an enormous vat of sauce as well as bottles on the tables.

i sampled everything and it was all great... i ended up getting the brisket and was very impressed. they can't touch walt's or the inn on sauce, but the brisket was some of the best i've ever had.

Hey....I hear that Obama is very "articulate." Is that true?

P.S. If you say yes, you are a racist...

I heard his book is smoke and mirrors. No substance.
