dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

oh yeah

so i forgot to tell the story from last night.. well.. renee and i head up to the mad frog to see oval opus, right... and we get there at 9:30, doors opened at 9 so we hope the opening band has already played. they hadn't. 10:15 they roll on - a band called embassy from columbus, and they were pretty decent actually, i dug what i heard and picked up a free cd (good idea btw). so it's 10:45, renee has to get up at 6:30 to go to work. i'm figuring oval opus won't be on til at least 11:30, and won't be done til 12:30. crap. so we decide to go. walk outside, and see lots of firetrucks and cops blocking mcmillan. nice. oh and a building is on fire. big fire. so we walk up there... and of course i have to frickin park NEXT TO THE BUILDING. there's three firetrucks around my car with their ladders hanging over it and over the cars in front of and behind me on the street. i immediately have visions of them dropping their ridiculously powerful hose on my car and destroying it.

so there's no hope of this getting cleared up soon, as the fire's still going, and the crowds are building. nice. so i walk renee home, come back over a while later and they're still going. fire's out but the fire dept guys are wandering around checking things out. now, i got much love and respect for the FD guys - they do excellent work and they're far braver and more honorable than i'll ever be. i just picked a stupid place to park, and i was bummed because now i gotta walk home, it's 52 degrees and raining. and i've got SARS or whatever makes my tonsils inflate like they are. but it was a good walk home, i've been enjoying walks like that lately.

oh btw, at the show i picked up oval opus' new disc red sky recovery. EXCELLENT stuff - their first CD i kinda was 'eh' about, and their second disc was better. check this one out, tho.
