dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

words so secure screaming like an alarm

driving into work this morning, the sun was almost arrogant. like a child screaming for attention it hung annoyingly in the middle of the completely clear sky, glaring through my windshield, and i twisted different ways to avoid it, put it behind a mirror or visor or something. i know when the sun bugs me on the drive in, there's a good chance the rest of the day at the office will be excruciating.

and then... it's things like this that make me smile in the middle of the day.

:) proxy, when you hit 500 days of uptime, i'm throwing you a party. i heart linux :)

(ok for the nongeek - my firewall / proxy server has 428 days of uptime, that means it's been running nonstop for 428 straight days without powering down for anything. uptime is a sort of status symbol among geeks. windows boxes, for example, rarely go past a few months of uptime. at home, moonbase (our firewall) has 100 days and cybertron (our webserver/mailserver) has 111. that's decent. 428 days is a fantastic stretch. in fact i don't think i've powered it down once since we moved into this building in november of 2002.)

(i've used a lot of parenthesis today, i've noticed. sorry.)
