dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

super nintendo, sega genesis.. when i was dead broke, man, i couldn't picture this

well, good news, found my cell phone. it magically appeared in the backseat of the car. after i spent solid 20 minutes in the car looking. and it was on the floor... on the floormat i had removed and put back in a few times while i was looking. you got me, i have no idea how it happened.

other cool stuff, i got a gmail account. if you aren't privvy - gmail is google's email service they're going to start offering free to the public soon. they offer them to current blogger users, so lo and behold i open up blogger to post this and bam, i get invited into the beta. i was really jazzed about this.

good features are (1) 1GB of space (big, but honestly my CEO has almost that filled in his exchange inbox :) (2) your mail is google searchable (3) they're gonna have IMAP access in a while (4) it's GOOGLE, they're the ultimate in simple, valuable web services, they don't ever have service outages... honestly can you remember what the net was like before google? can you imagine NOT having it now? i use it seriously 20 times a day for everything. literally everything. it's frightening how dependent i am on it now. i know with about five minutes of looking i can get ANY piece of information by starting there. so something that rock solid, yeah, i'll depend on them for my email. i think i may switch to using that for my primary account. the spam lists i'm on with jwhall at one.net and justin at one.net are ridiculous (especially since i've had jwhall for ten years, goo).

people are freaking out about privacy because google's spiders scan your gmail account's content to bring up content-relative ads next to your mail. they're even talking lawsuits. OVER A FREE SERVICE. THAT YOU. DON'T. NEED. TO. USE. geez people, settle the crap down. google's inline ads are probably the least offensive and annoying out there. this slashdot comment sums up my opinion on it.

anyway. jwhall izzat gmail dizzot com. fire it up, im getting rid of the onenet accounts officially. gmail's interface is nice, you can tell they use lotsa javascript cuz it's a little slow to render. but i aint mad at em. :)
