outside of you there's a remedy
heh, saw this on wired news. glad i'm not the only one who thought wireless in windows XP was goofy sometimes. normally it works okay, but a few times i've had it be completely unable to grab an IP from an access point with a working DHCP server for no reason at all. this happened yesterday in class and it drove me nuts for like 40 minutes.
i figured it was just the access point. i went into hibernate mode (mental image of me, crouched in the fetal position in a cave), walked down the hall to my next class and got on the AP there, as strong as ever. i'm pretty sure it's the ghetto AP down at the south end of Lindner Hall. but i never thought (as the article suggests) to restart the Wireless Zero Configuration service. go figure.
so tonight, renee and i are going to a movie. should it be shrek 2? troy? or (heh) harry potter? i think i'm voting for the third one. :) gary frickin oldman, people...
