hmmm. HP recalls memory in a lot of notebooks. including mine. argh. :(

speaking of computers... wow, can't find a working web browser for win95 anymore. my grandpa's computer (P133, 16MB. wow.) is still running 95, and his browser (Netscape 4.7) won't render his bank's website properly anymore. i figured i'd load mozilla 1.7 on there... no go. there's no available version of IE anymore for download either. i probably could have tried opera or something, or used one of my old IE5.0 CD's from the office... but it's just putting a band-aid on a shotgun wound right now, there's no reason to perpetuate them using that ancient system. there's too much else it can't do. he wanted to listen to some online radio stuff, but the newest working version of Realplayer for w95 is 8.0, which doesn't play the streams most sites use.

it brought me back to a simpler time, where i had to hunt for drivers and use autoexec.bat and enter init strings and such. remember those days? remember EMM386? remember how revolutionary 95 was when it came out? *sigh*... mentioning drivers... i think no longer having to really fight with devices to make them work is something i take for granted bigtime. i haven't had to flip jumpers on an ISA modem to free up IRQ's in years, and i'm not sorry. :)
