dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

my times are caught in a jar

in between the normal pace of things lately, last night was cool, renee and i went out to dinner w/artie and lisa, got to chill for a while and enjoy the irish pub. too bad renee drinks like a fish (huge joke, it's rare that she'll finish a glass of water).

i finished halo 2 single player, and started on metroid prime 2. what you've heard is partly true about halo - the single player game wasn't really short, at least in comparison w/the first one, it felt about the same, maybe just a hair repetitive, and fighting the flood again was almost as bad as the stupid 'brute' enemies... well actually the problem is how dark things get and how i wander off cliffs or get pwned by a charging brute that's not on my radar and i can't see him because it's pitch black. but it was fun, and the ending was indeed abrupt, come-out-of-nowhere, and basically a season-ending cliffhanger. that we'll have to wait two/three years (and possibly until xbox next) to see.

prime 2 is really good so far. barely anything has changed about the gameplay, graphics (besides a tiny advancement in the cinematics). i'm about an hour in and enjoying it thoroughly.

what i love about metroid is what i hate about halo. in metroid, being alone in the corridors, fighting solo, feels right. in halo, i SHOULD have a crew with me at all times, IMHO. i hate being solo in there because you're on a military operation, and, SPARTAN or no, you don't go in solo like that. there are enough times when strategically you should be solo and you're not, and times when you shouldn't be and you are.

both storylines are engrossing. however, the most engrossing thing about halo 2's storyline was honestly all ilovebees. i got more about what's going on in the universe from that game than i did in halo - and ILB basically connects H1 to H2, tells you how the covies found earth in the first place.

heh. go check out the metroid prime 2 site link up there if you have a few spare minutes, it's cool, it's kind of a walkthrough through the beginning part of the game.
