when the streets of los angeles are burning

i've been digging E3 coverage all day. i'm highly jazzed about the DS. the touchscreen is genius, but i'm more excited about the bluetooth capability. i just hope i can convince my friends to pick them up and sit around and game with me. and i'm sure we'll see phone connectivity followed by an email client on that thing with the quickness.

metroid prime: hunters looks nice. i'm used to the original prime for the cube's graphics, so i'm not sure how good it'll look on a 3" screen with an N64-esque graphics engine. but i'm sure it'll be fun no matter what.

a few movies: mario tennis for the cube, FINALLY. ridiculous. looks a million times more amazing than the first. the glowing rackets might get annoying quickly, but i'm not sure who's paying attention to that.

metroid prime 2: the multiplayer alone will make this, i think. if it's more than 4 player, then it'll definitely be a high seller. the original was a great experience.. some day i wanna sit in a room and play it on a big screen with surround sound, cuz that's the type of game that will seriously suck you in and make you forget you're on earth. the environments were so beautiful and scary and cool.. yeah, i think the next one looks far, far better. if you're an FPS fan - specifically of great single player experiences where lots of exploration are key - you owe it to yourself to play through Prime.

the new zelda for the cube. hmm. cool looking, i think, but i'm not overwhelmed. i kinda liked the cel shading. i may have been in the minority. but i'm gonna miss it if they stick with nicely rendered, realistic looking stuff.

other cool looking stuff: there's screens here for the new GBA zelda, mario golf, and DS mario 64 4x4 (the original with multiplayer), super mario bros. (which kinda looks lame), and mario kart, among others.

star fox 2: i hope there's some flying in this one. SF:Adventures, the cube game from last year, just looked lame as crap. SF is about flying and blowing up ships in outer space, not walking around shooting enemies or hitting them with a staff.

i think the PSP looks pretty nice too. i'm a nintendo fanboy at heart, always will be. i like my xbox, but i've honestly never played anything i LOVED on it. not even halo, which, while fun and socially engaging, felt like a cheap affair compared to the comfort of the 50-year marriage that is playing SMB3 or Ocarina or Prime or WindWaker. nintendo knows how to steal my heart. :) cool-factor wise the PSP looks like a nice machine. but none of the games start me drooling, is the thing. every game i mentioned above gets my heart racing. is the relationship metaphor getting a little frightening? sorry. :)
