when i'm lost and i'm found and i can't touch the ground

okay.. yeah XM radio is insanely good.

i picked up my brand spankin new Roady2 receiver yesterday from best buy. sat in the car digging it out of the packaging for a while... powered it up, stuck the antenna on the roof, and called the phone number to activate it. it dawned on me after waiting ten minutes that i was sitting next to a panera, and i could gank their wireless and activate it online. schweet. so i fired up galvatron and stole panera's free wireless and got the radio turned on. it was probably the most geek i've ever looked - sitting in my car with the phone headset in my ear, a laptop in the passenger seat, and a tangle of antenna wire amassed around me. with the sticker on the bumper.

anyway. drove home flipping through the hundred or so stations... so far my absolute favorite is XM54 - Lucy, the classic 90's alternative station. they played the pumpkins, sponge, soundgarden, howard jones, and the meat puppets IN A ROW on my way into work. i've also got the 80's, the 90's, fred (lots of indie and underground 90's post-grunge), fungus (punk rock / ska), ethel (more classic early-mid 90's rock), music lab (jam bands and such), and the rhyme (the 80's hip-hop channel) on my presets... you know what i think they should do, though, what would be cool, is if you could log in w/your xm account to their website and listen to the channels streamed over the net... for times like now, when i'm in the office. i'm paying them $10 a month, i think it'd be fair, and definitely a huge draw, because the programming is far better than any mp3 stream i've ever listened to.

anyway, i think i convinced dad to get one for himself. it'd be sweet on the boat. dad, if you do get one, and you aren't using the cell-phone mounting bracket, can i have it?

renee and i met w/dick alexander at church to talk about the wedding and premarital counseling. it was sweet, dick's totally the man, and i'm all hyped up about it now. looks like july 23rd is going to work out great. mark your calendars.

listening to: soundgarden - pretty noose
