eat of the apple, so young

i got the greatest thing ever in my box of corn pops this week:

yep, that's a lightsaber spoon. it makes your cereal glow with the light of a thousand red suns. (and other stuff you can eat with a spoon)

duebber's show last night was quality, his stuff sounded really solid and well-written. he was backed up by a team of all-stars too, big brooke trisler, dr. rick brantley and (a surprise) my boy ian pascoe, an oak hills grad that i haven't seen in a while. and it was a quality, entertaining show - scott moved from the stage to the piano to just an acoustic, then back to a full band, a nice touch.

the cd hits a wide range of stuff - mostly alt-country-esque material (think wilco/tom petty), mixed in with some folksy tracks and a song or two of metal-with-a-pinch-of-industrial.. something you don't expect with scott's voice, which is more soaring and friendly and gentle, and doesn't have the growl or rough edges that you expect with that genre. not that it doesn't work - scott could probably sing over a pantera track and make you feel positive at the end of the song. you don't see vocalists all that dynamic very often. anyway. good stuff.

it was nice to be up there and catch up with people, but my social battery was drained after about an hour. i'm finding that happening more and more in large groups.

work gave me a new laptop yesterday. went from an ibm to a dell. that's like taking my AMC gremlin and giving me a '63 dodge dart. so for now it's working well. i guess the nice thing is, when the screen / motherboard / keyboard / hard disk / power jack dies, i can just give it to our desktop support team and get a new one.

hitchhiker's tonight, i think. i'm prepared to be disappointed.
