i can feel you dreaming

so that was hour 20 this week, sitting in this freezing CBT data center downtown, the rushing of the multimillion dollar HVAC units that aren't quiet but aren't deafening, an inescapable sound.

i rebuilt a quad-xeon dell server, one of the last of the systems i hadn't finished yet. which starts with a reconfiguration of the hard disks in the systems. when they were first built a few years ago they didn't get configured correctly - so i get to sit here for four hours watching the thing clean the drives so that they can be configured properly. a process that would normally take about 45 minutes stretched to a good four hours. which is why it's 5:17 and i've stil got about 40 minutes left til im done.

it's cold cold cold cold. they need to pipe jimmy buffett into this room.

JOIN THE (*YF(*Y@(#&^*! DOMAIN ALREADY

i did have time to play 450 games of tetris, finish tony pierce's book, listen to six different albums and all of don miller's talk from october. (i actually typed 'december' there - probably because i can't feel my nose right now.) read the blogs that i was allowed to read. catch up while still feeling fear that my reading four pages of engadget would get me flagged by our proxy server as a miscreant.

i guess i could have spent the last few hours at a restaurant, or at fountain square, or checked out the reds museum at great american... i have to rebuild another one next week, maybe ill go do that then.

renee and i are cooking something tonight, a recipe or three that she found. she had to go to jungle jims to get the stuff she needed - you know it'll be good when it requires a trip to jim's cause they carry things like fazermints and roast guatemalan fruit bat.

tomorrow night b and i and maybe some other people are going to watch sin city. robert rodriguez quit the director's guild cause he wanted to make movies in a style that went against their rules. which could have been a significant detriment to the career of a lesser director. not him. studios still bought his films. benicio del toro and clive owen are in this! coolness.

ITS COLD

ahh, windows is done installing, a few minutes of configuration and we're in bidness.
