when you think your path is clear
hmm. jay-z has bored me to tears since 2001, but i see a glimmer of hope in the new pharrell-produced track blue magic - a minimalist drop it like it's hot-ish beat that's actually a little interesting. the track is the first one off his upcoming "concept album" american gangster.
(ahh yes, something as dreary and single-minded as mainstream hip-hop will certainly produce a "concept album" that will be compelling, and not at all a total recapitulation of every other album on the charts. but i guess no one's buying 50 cent's CD to get something new. yep, confirmed: single # two sucks. oh well, at least it's not soulja boy.)
the bad religion show was excellent - it felt short even through they cranked through 28 songs and almost fired up a cover of sweet home alabama. the setlist included a few surprises - skyscraper and lookin' in were unexpected.
we're going back to vincenzo's tomorrow night w/the family, and daycon is saturday. and i need to start prepping to eat some donuts - i believe some practice is in order.

shimmy shimmy ya?
Rob - you have always been a purveyor of fine hip-hop - listened to anything great lately?
Happy Birthday dude
It's a bleak world out there in modern hip-hop....the only song that I like, sadly, is Kanye West's "Stronger", which is a remix of Daft Punk's Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger. Too bad I can't stand Kanye himself.
Anyways.....is today your birthday? If so, Happy Birthday J!
