used to call it love

a lot of things can change in ten years, right? i mentioned a few weeks ago that just ten years ago, spending all of your time on websites and playing video games was socially unacceptable... still a wild thought, BTW... anyway ten years ago, the winner of multiple wired vaporware awards, duke nukem forever, was announced. today a (rather unimpressive) teaser trailer was announced, and in joystiq's article they linked to another great site - a list of things that have happened in the video game world (and beyond) since DNF was announced.

it's quite a wild list - three console generations; the invention of the ipod; the filming and release of the entire second star wars trilogy, the matrix trilogy, and the lord of the rings trilogy; gas prices have doubled in the united states... they also list a few things that happened in less time than DNF's development - namely, WWII and the entire career of the beatles.

doesn't seem so long ago, does it? will time appear to move this quickly when i'm forty or fifty?

I don't know this to be true, but I've heard that once you've had children it goes by even faster. Hard to believe right?

Darren, that's caused by the lack of sleep.
