dirty deeds... and the dunderchief

if you ain't up on thangs...

steve and b and i just test drove a 2005 mustang. black with black interior, 5-speed 4.0 liter V6. i have to change my pants. it handled great, the engine was beautiful and sounded fantastic... it was really responsive... besides the retro touches the interior was a little blah, sorta plasticky... the 6-disc CD/MP3 changer was a nice touch. the other cool thing was that the sales guy who was working with us was the dad of one clifton loucks - a giant among men, UC student, young life leader, who lives at my old house, the compound. he was really generous, offering to take lots off the sticker and sell to me below invoice. sticker was $19k, CD/MP3 + tax / title / etc was $21k. not too shabby.

of course renee would never let me drive it how it deserves to be driven. the way we drove it down northland, easily smoking everyone we saw.

oh and also, doom3 is not the repetitive bore-fest i'd thought from the PC shareware demo. picked up the xbox version and it's really, really good - looks much better than on my PC, performs better (on 2001 gaming hardware.. my PC's not THAT old) and has co-op and DM over live. the collector's edition also came with doom and doom II ports - also playable co-op/dm over live. how sweet is that?

the vibe is kinda half-life esque, although half-life stole many story elements from the 'plot' of the doom series (if you can call it that, evil beings from another dimension invade secret government industrial complex and kill everything). it's creepy, with great sound effects and environments that lend to the bad-but-still-scary horror movie feeling.
