no such thing as halfway crooks
before pirates on friday, renee and i witnessed an abomination: rocky balboa. someone apparently wasn't around for all the "rocky 5000" jokes in 1987, and decided it'd be a good idea to drag that franchise out of the tomb. more proof that hollywood has officially become a parody of itself.
they showed the mostly-lame transformers teaser-that-has-nothing-to-do-with-the-actual-movie. i still cheered. so did several others. more proof to my wife that i'm not the only loser who's excited about this film.
pirates was funny, entertaining, and long. almost suspenseful, if the editor hadn't given up halfway through it and left in an hour of footage that didn't need to be there. i didn't know it was going to be a trilogy, and that the mighty chow yun fat is gonna be in the third one.
yesterday adrian and i drove up to meet my sister and her mom to watch germany (actually just schweinsteiger) walk all over portugal. afterwards we hit up hoggy's - no rematch of the challenge, though. we came back and enjoyed the crew losing to DCU from row 2 in the northwest corner. lots of very young children screaming obscenities at the ref as he walked off the field.
the drive back home at 10pm turned interesting when 71S out of columbus ended up being closed. we couldn't get to to 270, either, so we ended up driving in circles before hitting 70W to get home, bumping some depeche mode and DMB and mobb deep. we had a blast, and knowing that adrian's a soccer fan, i think we're gonna try to get up there for more games this season. tix were only $10 with a student discount, and add a little BD's into the mix and you have the perfect saturday.
a Crew - DC United game, eh? Not bad, as far as MLS matchups go.
I thought the first Pirates movie was rather long too. Just when you though it was almost over... BOOM, another half hour of plot was uncovered. But a lot of action makes up for a long storyline.
I had no idea that it was a trilogy either. From what I've heard, they're already done shooting the 3rd film and who's going to star as Capt. Jack's dad??? Keith Richards!!!
That's right. Done deal. That's wicked. Makes the movie a must see and an instant classic
I just checked out the preview for Rocky Balboa. Gave me chills.
Now I just peeped the Transformers teaser.
If the movie is anything like that, I'm going to hang myself. And Michael Bay.
